All contributions will assist Crane River Theater for our 2019 Season and Educational Programs. Our season will include the following shows: the hilarious Steve Martin comedy Picasso at the Lapin Agile, the fun family musical You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown, the high-flying Broadway musical Newsies, Of Mice and Men as our Destination Series play, as well as Celebrate Broadway and Elf the Musical. Audiences for the productions are anticipated to reach more than 20,000 people over the course of the season. You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown will be performed at the Cope Amphitheater in Yanney Heritage Park in association with Kearney Park and Recreation. Admission will be very minimal, so sponsorship is very important. Newsies and Picasso at the Lapin Agile will be held in partnership with UNK Music, Theatre and Dance. Celebrate Broadway and Elf the Musical will both be performed at the Merryman Performing Arts Center, and Mountain Rose ranch will be the site for Of Mice and Men.
Crane River Theater is excited to once again offer a series of arts education programs for youth. Every summer we offer our widely popular Explore Theater classes made possible by our partnerships with Kearney Park and Recreation and Kearney Area Children’s Museum. In an effort to raise awareness and excitement toward the arts among high school students, our Backstage Workshop allows students a chance to receive a backstage look at a professional production and take part in a series of theatrical workshops. Crane River Theater is excited to reprise our Page to Stage series to libraries across Central Nebraska for their Summer Reading Programs. We’re also adding several new programs in 2019 as well, including a middle school production, a middle school leadership workshop, and an audition workshop for high school students in Omaha among others. We have already exposed more than 13,000 kids of all ages to the joy of theater and we hope to continue that trend. Help us nurture the artistic talents of these young individuals by supporting our arts education programs.
