Janice is a tenured Professor at the University of Nebraska at Kearney where she teaches performance and playwriting courses as well as directs for the main stage season. Janice has been invited as a guest director for summer stock theatres in Alaska, Michigan, Nebraska, Texas and South Dakota (Black Hills Playhouse). She has been awarded several meritorious awards from the Region V Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for her directing and playwriting as well as won a national Kennedy Center Fellowship for Directing. Also a published playwright, Janice’s collection of original monologues and original formless scenes, Blue Food, published by Heuer Publishing continues to be a favorite textbook for acting teachers at the high school and university level. She has also published ten short plays (Heuer Publishing). Janice is an RDT (Nationally Registered Drama Therapist) and was just awarded her M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from UNK so she now has a license to practice Drama Therapy! She is thrilled to be directing Tuesdays With Morrie for Crane River Theater.
