Senja is currently in her 26th year of teaching vocal music. She has taught K-12 Vocal Music at Genoa Public School (for 6 years), K-12 Vocal Music at Arapahoe Public Schools (for 20 years) and most recently moved to Cozad, Nebraska where she teaches K-5 Vocal Music at Cozad Elementary. Senja received her B.A in Music Education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 1992 and then her M.A. in Music Education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 2002. She is an active adjudicator and clinician across the state and really enjoys directing musical theater. In her career she has directed shows such as Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Oklahoma, Guys and Dolls, Cinderella, West Side Story, All Shook Up, Footloose, Beauty and The Beast, Hairspray, Thoroughly Modern Millie and most recently The Sound of Music. She still does a great deal of performing with the Axtell Oratorio Society as a soloist for Handel’s Messiah, with Platte River Singers, and in musicals such as Hairspray and The Secret Garden with Crane River Theater. Senja loves exercise, coffee and being around her dogs Gus and Harper. She is married to her husband Kip and has two daughters, Halle, 24, and Gabrielle, 20. She wishes to thank God for her musical gifts and her students of 26 years for inspiring her every day.
