Dr. Aaron Scully is an Assistant Instructor of Theatre at the University of Central Missouri. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Missouri in 2018.  His dissertation explored methods for how theatre may be utilized to understand and treat alcoholism and addiction.  Aaron is the Chair of the KCACTF Region V National Playwriting Program and is the Co-Coordinator for the Judith Royer Excellence in Playwriting Award for ATHE.  Aaron is an active actor, director, and playwright. Most recently, as an actor, he played Rothko in a production of Red. In the spring of 2021, Aaron directed Oedipus for State Fair Community College, a play he wrote that reimagines Sophocles’ tragedy Oedipus the King. Aaron previously acted for Crane River Theater as Father Flynn in their Summer 2017 production of Doubt: A Parable.  He is very excited to be making his directorial debut with Crane River this summer directing one of his favorite plays: God of Carnage. Aaron wants to thank Steve and the rest of the Crane River leadership for providing him with this opportunity! Aaron lives in Warrensburg, MO with his wife Ashley and their two dogs, Ophelia and Gus.
