DIrector / Choreographer
 

Bernard Monroe is a Director/Choreographer who is returning to Crane River Theater, after his work as Choreographer for the production of Newsies in 2019.  As a member of the Director/Choreographer’s union SDC, Bernard has worked extensively in Regional Theaters around the country, including Mill Mountain Theatre, The Fulton Theatre, The Helen Hayes Performing Art Center, Cohoes Music Hall, The Finger Lakes Theater Festival, and The Okoboji Summer Theatre.  Other credits include Songs For A New World with Tony Award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown, The Rita Hayworth Black And White Ball at NYC’s former Tavern on the Green, the World Premiere of Around The World In 80 Days, and the Regional Premiere of Off-Broadway’s Summer Of ‘42.  As an Educator, Mr. Monroe has worked as a Director/Choreographer for the institutions at Wagner College, Stephen’s College, and Doane University, as well as the Ballet Master and Choreographer for Music Theatre North.  Mr. Monroe also serves as a Judge for the International Dance Competition Organization American Dance Awards.
