A native of Kansas, Marc’s earliest memories of performing was playing the violin at church and singing in boys’ choirs. As a 4th-grader, Marc was cast as Kurt von Trapp in The Sound of Music at Manhattan High School, directed by his dad, David Bauer. Marc graduated from Kearney High School in 1988, where he continued to perform in the orchestra under the direction of Bettelee Lewis. After graduating from the University of Nebraska-Omaha, Marc taught in Kearney Public Schools for 18-years while coaching the wrestling team at UNK. After 21 years of coaching, Marc became the UNK Athletic Director in 2018 and completed a Doctorate in Education in Interdisciplinary Leadership from Creighton University in 2021. Marc and his wife, Beth, reside in Kearney. When he’s not supporting UNK Lopers, Marc enjoys running, reading, scuba diving, gardening, claiming the title of Nebraska’s Salsa Connoisseur, and spending time with his four children, Ryan, Scott, Allison, and Julia, including their significant others and four grandchildren.
