Bernard is a Director/Choreographer, and a member of SDC, the Stage Director and Choreographer’s union. He has worked extensively with Regional Theatres around the country, including Mill Mountain Theatre, The Fulton Theatre, Cohoes Music Hall, The Helen Hayes Performing Arts Center, The Finger Lakes Theatre Festival, And the Okoboji Summer Theatre. Other credits include Songs For A New World, with Tony Award winning Composer Jason Robert Brown, The Rita Hayworth Black And White Ball at NYC’s Tavern on the Green, the world premiere of Around The World In 80 Days, and the regional premiere of Off Broadway’s Summer Of 42. As an educator, Bernard has also worked as a Director or Choreographer for main stage productions at Wagner College (Bells Are Ringing, Me And My Girl), Stephen’s College (Anything Goes, Leader Of The Pack), and Doane University (The Drowsy Chaperone, Carrie). His Company work includes the piece A Girl Group inspired by music of The Supremes. He has taught Master Classes for the Dance Departments at Radford University and Wagner College, as well as being the ballet master and Main Stage Choreographer for the Regional Theatre Music Theatre North. Bernard is also a judge for the internationally known Dance Organization American Dance Awards, and judges Dance Competitions around the US and Canada. In 2000, he won The Helen Hayes Performing Art Centers Youth Award for Excellence in Choreography.
