Hannah Benson is a twenty-nine-year-old classically trained mezzo-soprano from Grand Island, Nebraska. Always having a love for singing and performing, she studied with Dr. Sarah Holman at the Wheaton College Conservatory for her undergraduate career pursuing a degree in vocal performance. She has since earned her Masters Degree from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music in Voice Performance under the private teachings of Timothy Noble. Throughout her musical career, Hannah has taught private lessons in high schools and is currently teaching voice lessons at Hastings College and Create308. She has portrayed characters such as Dido in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Ruth in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance, Ma in Aaron Copland’s The Tenderland, Eulalie Mackecknie Shinn in Meridith Wilson’s The Music Man, and Anita in Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story. She has also taken part in multiple choirs and in chorus work of productions such as Jake Heggie’s Dead Man Walking and Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma!. When she isn’t teaching or performing, she enjoys spending time with her cats, binge-watching shows, and taking trips to visit friends.
