Dr. Paul Brodene Smith’s career includes over 1500 performances including opera and musical theater works in venues including the Her Majesties Theatre (London), Neue Flora (Hamburg) Deutches Nationaltheater, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, the Prague State Opera, and Cairo Opera. He has served as Musical director for productions of Shrek, As thousand Cheer, 1776, Ragtime, as well as numerous operas. Dr. Brodene Smith also showed his musical range by performing “Piangi” in both the London and Hamburg productions of Andrew Lloyd Webbers’ The Phantom of the Opera. He was the Managing Artistic Director of Opera Kansas.

Dr. Brodene Smith has served on the faculties of the University of Nebraska at Kearney, the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana, the Stella Musical Academy in Hamburg Germany, Wichita State University and Central Michigan University . He holds baccalaureate and master’s degrees in voice performance from Roosevelt University and the DMA in voice performance, with a minor area in speech and hearing science, from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana.
